Meet Giovanna Potestio
Giovanna earned her Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Political Science before receiving her Juris Doctor from Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law. During law school, she served as President of the Family Law Society, volunteered with the Orangewood Foundation, and externed for the Honorable Judge Mary Kreber Varipapa. While externing at Lamoreaux Justice Center, Giovanna observed a wide range of family law proceedings, gaining valuable insight into both the legal process and the personal challenges families face during litigation.
Giovanna’s background in psychology gives her a greater understanding of the complex family dynamics that often accompany divorce and custody disputes, including the impact mental health concerns can have on parents and children. As your attorney, Giovanna is committed to ensuring that you feel informed, prepared, and supported throughout each stage of the legal process.

1. How would your friends, family, or former colleagues describe you?
My friends, family, and former colleagues would describe be as detail-oriented, hardworking, and empathetic.
2. Why did you choose to practice family law?
I chose to practice family law because I value the unique personal nature of the work. Every case is different, and I appreciate the opportunity to work closely with clients to help them find practical solutions and reduce conflict where possible.
3. What do you enjoy doing outside of the office?
Outside of the office you can find me exploring new restaurants in Orange County, on the tennis courts, or shopping.
4. What do you want every client to know before meeting you?
I want every client to know that I value honesty and transparency from the very beginning. The more open we are with one another, the better I can understand the circumstances, create realistic goals, and develop a strategy that best serves your needs. When we build that level of trust, it minimizes unexpected challenges as the case progresses.
5. What do you enjoy most about working directly with clients?
I love hearing each client’s story because every family and every situation is unique. Everyone deserves to feel heard, especially when navigating something as personal and challenging as a family law matter. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is helping clients feel less overwhelmed and guiding them toward a resolution that allows them to move forward with confidence and begin the next chapter of their lives.
6. What aspect of family law are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about child custody cases because they have such a profound impact on families. Parents are often navigating one of the most difficult and emotional periods of their lives, and many understandably worry about how these changes will affect their children. I strive to be a calm and practical advocate, helping families find solutions that prioritize the best interests of their children.
